When Having your head in the clouds is a good thing

Client: Microdesk is a global resources for BIM services and Autodesk software. They have built their company around impacting design and construction with an emphasis on technological innovation. 

Concept:  The latest Building Information Modeling (BIM) design technologies are changing the landscape of infrastructure design, construction and operations and maintenance. BIM enables a level of intelligence that goes beyond sustainable design and into proactive strategy

The Challenge: After a natural disaster occurs, it is often difficult to survey damaged sites. Microdesk challenged itself to come up with a solution to study a site after Hurricane Sandy destroyed parts of Atlantic City. 

The Project: Microdesk used a drone to take images of the disaster site. Then, they used BIM technology to stitch together those images to form a 3D model. The model  could then be used for reconstruction engineering and design drawings.
